Real Estate Tax Relief Legislation

Todd Ernst was born in Torrington, Wyoming in 1965 and was raised on a farm and ranch in Goshen County. He graduated from Southeast High school, in 1983, and loved playing football. He played for the south in the North/South Shrine bowl as a defensive end.

At 19, he joined the United States Army went to Ft Benning Georgia home of the Infantry. Spent four years as an infantry soldier and earned the rank of Sergeant. Todd finished his enlistment and went back to the farm ranch where he helped his parents. In 1990, his dad with some health issues, they had to sell and move to Cheyenne. After working a couple of different jobs and joining the Navy Reserves during the first Gulf war in 1993 he then had the opportunity to apply to the Assessor’s office as a field appraiser.

Once in the Assessor’s office he worked his way up to field supervisor. In 2006 with the war on terrorism at its height, he felt his calling to serve his country again. He joined the Wyoming National Guard as a traditional guardsman.

While in the Wyoming National Guard he worked at Camp Guernsey as range support personnel ensuring incoming units trained to the Army standards and ensure all safety measures were upheld. With a total of twenty years in the military, he retired with the rank of Sergeant First class in 2022.

Working in the Assessor’s office for over 31 years and the Guard for 15 years, he worked his way up to Chief Deputy Assessor in 2021.

He has volunteered for Cheyenne frontier Days since 2018 for Contract acts as a stage crew hand, responsible for setting up and tearing down for the artist during the concerts along with volunteering at his Church.

Along with volunteering he likes to hunt, fish, shoot, camp and travel with his family.

Todd and his wife Carla of 30 years have two kids, Jessi 29 Son-in-law Coy, Grand Daughter Tez, Son Hunter 26 and future Daughter-in-law Olivia. Also, part of the family 3 grand dogs.
