New Member Introduction
Membership Chair Dave Bartlett introduced newish member Sheridan Peil to the club, Sheridan shared the following with the club.

Born at Memorial Hospital and raised in the wild frontier of Cheyenne, Wyoming (where the wind never quits and the people are tougher for it), I spent most of my life under Wyoming’s big skies—except for a 22-year detour in Phoenix, Arizona, where I tested my survival skills in the Sonoran Desert and confirmed that, yes, 120 degrees is in fact too hot.
On my dad’s side, my family homesteaded in Montana after coming over from Russia—because apparently, subzero winters weren’t quite harsh enough. On my mom’s side, I’m proudly 5th-generation Wyomingite, which means I was pretty much born with spurs on.
I'm the proud dad of a 16-year-old daughter who somehow manages to juggle school, volleyball, choir, and violin—all while leaving very little time for boys, which, honestly, is the dream. We bond over skiing, horseback riding, camping, reading, and occasionally reminding each other that Wyoming has more animals than people.
My outdoor passions include hunting, hiking, and shooting sports. I’ve hiked the Grand Canyon (twice), roamed the Smokies, and explored most of the American West. My favorite place on earth is the Bridger Wilderness in the Tetons—home of elk, solitude, and at least one Grizzly who wasn’t thrilled to see me. If I go down out there, I’ll consider it a good death.
In addition to being a Cowboy Hat Wearing Health Nut (an earned title), I’ve spent over a decade practicing holistic wellness—body, mind, spirit, and yes, even social sanity. I recently completed a 40-day water fast, which taught me that hunger really sharpens your sense of humor.
I love cowboy culture, fixing fences, calving season, and any excuse to wrangle a cow or serve my community. I’m also an avid journaler and have been repeatedly told I should write a book—possibly about the lost art of ironing, which I find oddly therapeutic. (Seriously. Nothing calms the mind like a perfectly crisp shirt.
Niel Carroll Obituary
PEN Mary Guthrie shared with the membership the following.
Today, we remember Neil Carroll, a dedicated member of our Rotary Club for over 45 years. For many of those years, he achieved perfect attendance—a testament to his commitment and spirit of service.
Neil was born in 1934 and passed away on April 6 at the age of 90. He led a fascinating and fulfilling life. Though born in Casper, he spent much of his childhood in Aruba, where his father worked at an oil refinery. Like many men of his generation, Neil served in the U.S. Army before attending the University of Colorado. It was there he met his wife, Mary, who is also a longtime and valued member of our Rotary Club.
In 1970, Neil and Mary made Cheyenne their home. Over the years, he was active in several business ventures and community efforts. He was the principal of Carroll Oil Company and was also involved with Cheyenne Vending and Amusement.
Neil was deeply devoted to both his family and the community he loved. He often said he wanted to be remembered as a “real Wyoming boy,” with strong family roots in the state—and indeed, he will be.

Returning Exchange Student
Eppu Kaijanto, 2023 Exchange Student from Finland returned to Cheyenne for a visit and he updated the club on his activities.
Adaptive Bike Delivery
We now have a schedule for the delivery of the adaptive bikes.  As in past years, they will be delivered to the Cheyenne Fire Department Training Facility at 7222 Commerce Circle Way in Southeast Cheyenne.
We will need some Rotarian Volunteers on Friday evening, May 16 for the uncrating and assembly which will occur between 5:30 and 7:30 at the Training Facility.  The assembly is not complicated so you don't need to be a mechanic or engineer to help, just bring gloves and a box cutter..
The gifting of the bikes to the recipients will take place at the same facility on Saturday May 17 from 10 am to 2 pm. The gifting is a heartwarming experience which I highly recommend.
