Membership Chair Dave Bartlett introduced newish member Sheridan Peil to the club, Sheridan shared the following with the club. Born at Memorial Hospital and raised in the wild frontier of Cheyenne, Wyoming (where the wind never quits and the people are tougher for it), I spent most of my life under Wyoming’s big skies—except for a 22-year detour in Phoenix, Arizona, where I tested my survival skills in the Sonoran Desert and confirmed that, yes, 120 degrees is in fact too hot. On my dad’s side, my family homesteaded in Montana after coming over from Russia—because apparently, subzero winters weren’t quite harsh enough. On my mom’s side, I’m proudly 5th-generation Wyomingite, which means I was pretty much born with spurs on. I'm the proud dad of a 16-year-old daughter who somehow manages to juggle school, volleyball, choir, and violin—all while leaving very little time for boys, which, honestly, is the dream. We bond over skiing, horseback riding, camping, reading, and occasionally reminding each other that Wyoming has more animals than people. My outdoor passions include hunting, hiking, and shooting sports. I’ve hiked the Grand Canyon (twice), roamed the Smokies, and explored most of the American West. My favorite place on earth is the Bridger Wilderness in the Tetons—home of elk, solitude, and at least one Grizzly who wasn’t thrilled to see me. If I go down out there, I’ll consider it a good death. In addition to being a Cowboy Hat Wearing Health Nut (an earned title), I’ve spent over a decade practicing holistic wellness—body, mind, spirit, and yes, even social sanity. I recently completed a 40-day water fast, which taught me that hunger really sharpens your sense of humor. I love cowboy culture, fixing fences, calving season, and any excuse to wrangle a cow or serve my community. I’m also an avid journaler and have been repeatedly told I should write a book—possibly about the lost art of ironing, which I find oddly therapeutic. (Seriously. Nothing calms the mind like a perfectly crisp shirt. |
