Rotarian of the Week
Our Rotarian of the Week lived in several places growing up, including central Nevada, southwest Idaho and San Francisco. He graduated from Lowell High School, in San Francisco, the oldest high school west of the Mississippi, with 700 students in his graduating class (which is nearly 700 times the size of President Traci’s hometown).
Our special Rotarian’s first job was as a newspaper boy for the Humboldt Sun in Winnemucca, Nevada, where he was paid a handsome sum of $3/week. During high school, our special Rotarian enlisted in the Army.  After several international exercises and one peacekeeping deployment, he attended the University of Nevada in Reno, majoring in criminal justice. He eventually attended the University of Wyoming College of Law, where Billie Addleman sat next to his future wife, Brandi Monger, on the first day of class. Billie and Brandi have been married nineteen years. Following law school, Billie clerked for the Honorable William Beaman, the United States Magistrate Judge before joining the law firm of Hirst Applegate, where he has practiced for the last 18 years, including a time as the firm’s managing partner.

Billie joined Rotary in 2005, when he was sponsored by then Club President John Metzke.  He created the Cranium Cup in 2008, chairing the event for three years. Subsequently, he served as Club President and Assistant Governor for District 5440.  In recognition of his service to Rotary, Billie was recognized as District 5440’s Rotarian of the Year in 2010-11 and was our Club’s Rotarian of the Year in 2013. Billie loves Rotary because of the fellowship, with many of his closest friends coming through Rotary.  His most memorable Rotary moment was serving as the Cheyenne Rotary Club President.
Other than family, Billie’s proudest accomplishment is his work at LCCC, where he currently serves as the President of the LCCC Foundation. He and Brandi treasure the many special connections they developed with LCCC students, especially the international students.  In his free time, Billie enjoys traveling, reading, spending time at their cabin, and studying Serbian and Croatian.  His favorite food is a bison ribeye, medium rare, with garlic mashed potatoes.
Major Donor Recognized
President Traci and Foundation Chair Lori Scheone recognize Robert Elwell as a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation.  A Rotarian is recognized as a Major Donor when they have contributed ten thousand dollars to the Foundation.
Adaptive Tricycles Given to Students

The 36 adaptive tricycles for students of Laramie County School District 1 who have special needs arrived this past week. The tricycles were funded by a grant from The Rotary Club of Cheyenne’s Business Sponsorship program and Rotary District 5440.

The bikes are pediatric adaptive tricycles which allow children with various disabilities to ride. The trikes engage the full body and offer strap on pedals as well as trunk support system and harness. A parking brake and guide bar allow family and friends to guide the trike if needed. The trikes also offer a low transfer step, making it easier for kids to get on and off.

The 36 tricycles were assembled by Rotarians and Cheyenne Firefighters Local 279 last Tuesday and presented to LCSD1 students on Saturday.

May be an image of 14 people, people standing, outdoors and text that says 'FIRE RESCUE RAMEDIC ENGINE'

Many thanks to all those who made this wonderful project possible.  The look on the students faces as they motored around the fire station was priceless!
