Our Rotarian of the Week grew up in rural northern Florida. His first job, at the age of 10, was mowing grass on a northern Florida farm for $1 per hour. At the age of 13, he approached the owner and negotiated a pay raise increasing his compensation to $2 per hour. Eventually, our special Rotarian moved to southern California and then Great Falls, Montana, where he graduated from C.M. Russell High School, home of the Rustlers, with 270 in his graduating class. At the age of 18, he found his true passion in sales, which he credits greatly to his uncle, who was a Nissan car salesman. Today, Kevin Harris serves as the General Manager for Ken Garff Motors. He and his wife, Darcey, will celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary next week. They have two daughters, Mikayla, 20, and Katelyn, 10. Kevin joined Rotary in 2017 and was sponsored by John Clay. His most memorable Rotary moments are tied to the Cranium Cup. Several years ago, President Traci asked him to help with the Cranium Cup, which he ended up chairing for three years. He greatly enjoyed the event and the teamwork of so many Rotarians to make the one-of-a-kind event a success. In addition to chairing the Cranium Cup and Peaches, he served on the Club’s Board of Directors overseeing fundraising. Kevin’s favorite meal is his wife’s amazing spaghetti, made with hamburger, sausage and fresh tomatoes. Other than family, his proudest accomplishment is being trusted to take the torch from Bob Womack to run Ken Garff Motors. In his free time, Kevin enjoys golfing, shooting, mowing and edging grass, horticulture, and spending time with his family. |
