Rotary Club of Cheyenne meetings, normally held each Wednesday at Little America, have been cancelled through the end of March. Rotary is known around the world for their fight against infectious disease and we take personal responsibility to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19. Rotary Club of Cheyenne is contributing $2,000 for distribution directly to hourly banquet employees that are most financially impacted by our event cancellation. We appreciate our gracious and generous banquet host, Little America Resort in Cheyenne, and their staff who serve us each week. The current public health crisis affects many people in our community, and event cancellations will have a significant effect on employees who lose hours of paid work and gratuities. This small gesture is one way Rotarians can make a difference. Rotary challenges the Cheyenne community to consider how you also might take action to create change. For other service organizations, we challenge you to do as we have and contribute your “lunch money” to support hourly service employees and others in need. For ticket holders of events that have been cancelled, consider donating the ticket cost to the nonprofit organization who is now left without fundraising revenue. Contribute to organizations like Friday Food Bags, local food pantries, and Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne, who will be helping ensure that needs are being met for food insecure families and children who need care. In the words of the new media campaign that celebrates all that makes Cheyenne special, Rotary encourages Cheyenne to Live Legendary. |
