We plan on resuming our physical gatherings and activities as soon as we responsibly can.  Until then, together we are "Socially Distanced, but Rotary Connected."

Opportunities to Serve Your Club
Did you know that volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress and anxiety, combats depression, and provides a sense of purpose?  The Rotary Club of Cheyenne needs you to volunteer!

Board of Directors:  Sylvia Hackl has unfortunately had to resign as an incoming board member.  (Sylvia is not resigning from our Rotary Club, but just finds that her profession will take up more of her time than she had anticipated.)  Rotary Club of Cheyenne’s bylaws dictate that “The Board shall fill any vacancy in the Board of Directors or any office occurring mid-year”  or in our case, any vacancy occurring after the election in December.  With a club the size of ours, we know that there are members that may have want to be considered for a Board position that have not had that opportunity in the past.  If you would like to join our club’s leadership team, please contact President Robin Sims (by email to robin_sims@charter.net) by May 31 to indicate your interest.

Rotary Foundation Chairperson:   If you would like to help our club encourage, track and recognize gifts to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), this is an opportunity to gain further appreciation for the life-changing work that Rotary International does through TRF.  If you’d like more information about what is involved, you can talk to Lori Schoene (the current chair), Billie Addleman (who previously served in this position), or Robin Sims.

Communications and Website Administration:  If you have skills in written communications, newsletter and website design, and interacting with members, we have just the place for you!  We are looking for a person to utilize our ClubRunner online platform to share the Rotary story through our website, keep members and supporters in-the-know through our newsletter, and maintain the member-only content that helps with us administer the club smoothly.  This position requires excellent communications skills, patience to utilize a somewhat clunky website platform, attention to detail, and a desire to support our club and its members.  While the work is ongoing and requires time each week, the hours are at your convenience.  This is one of the positions in our club that comes with a small monthly stipend.  If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Robin Sims at 630-7419 or Brent Lathrop at 286-7661.

Peaches:  While a significant portion of the peach crop on the Western Slope of Colorado suffered severe freeze damage in April, our grower has peaches for us to sell!   The Peach Sales fundraiser raises money for Rotary service projects each year, and is the perfect social distancing fundraiser.  Because of the shortage in the peach crop, we will have three hundred 9-pound boxes available to sell, rather than the usual 18-pound boxes. WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We are looking for a chairperson to coordinate the volunteers and the sales, delivery to Little America, and distribution.  If you are interested in chairing this fundraiser this year or want more information about what is entailed, please contact last year’s chairperson, Lindsey Reynolds at lindsey@cheyennesymphony.org or Brittany Wilson at BWilson@mhpllp.com.

Tech Team:  Social distancing has opened up possibilities to connect in ways we never thought we’d be forced to employ.  In the short term, our club has been able to rely on just a couple of members to implement all of the video conferencing.  We do anticipate that whenever we are able to start physically gathering, we will want to continue to employ the virtual meeting technology to allow those who are not able to join us physically to join us virtually.  We’ve also enjoyed the possibilities to engage with speakers outside of our geographic area.  Whether we are meeting solely by video conferencing, or are meeting in person combined with video, Brent Lathrop and Robin Sims need some help! If you are just a little “techie” and would like to be part of a team that works with the technology of today, please contact President Elect Brent Lathrop (by email at blathrop@charter.net)
