World Polio Day and End Polio Now
October 19, 2022
Dr. Krishna Murthy - Rotary Club of Fort Collins
World Polio Day and End Polio Now

Join us as we recognize World Polio Day (Oct 24th) and learn about Rotary International continued efforts to eradicate Polio through the End Polio Now initiative. Dr. Murthy will discuss Rotary's global initiative and strategic plan to address remaining Polio cases throughout the world, and how Rotary International is partnering with other agencies to address new cases.  Dr. Murthy will also discuss how Rotarians can leverage our relationship with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to raise $150 Million to fight Polio around the world.

Rotarian of the Week
Our Rotarian of the week was born in Kansas City, MO and adopted at 3 months old. Both his parents were teachers. He attended Garden City High School home of the Buffalos. He played basketball and the sax in band. There were 260 students in his graduating class with only 10 leaving the state for college. His first job was as a Boy Scout counselor at a summer camp in Walsenburg, CO, which he did for 5 years.
Our Rotarian of the week applied to all of the Service Academies and got into all of them, he decided to attend the Airforce Academy and majored in Engineering. He wasn’t going to be a pilot because of his eyesight but he got the opportunity to fly gliders, travel to far away bases, live in other countries, become fluent in German, and meet amazing people from all over the world.
Scott Fox graduated in 1987 with a degree in Astronautical Engineering.  He then proceeded to work in missile operations where he was an analyst, testing advisor and commander of his own missile squadron. Scott spent over 27 years in Active Duty and was the 20th Air Force Vice Commander at his retirement in 2014.
Scott met his wife Megan, a Californian native, socializing at the Officers Club while he was stationed in Germany. They both came back to the states to get married and have been together for 32 years. Megan and Scott have 2 sons. Mathew, 28, is a music director at a K-8 School in Henderson Nevada. Alex is 27 and just finished his master’s in chemical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines.
Scott fell in love with the non-profit world after his retirement from the military and has been the Executive Director at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation for 7 years. He loves that he gets to help the community and watch great acts of selflessness and caring every day.
Scott’s most memorable Rotary Experience was the balloon launch at McCormick Jr. HS because he got to see the kids learning and excited. Scott serves on our board of directors and was so happy to have a part in funding all of the adaptive bikes that were needed. Bob Budd sponsored Scott into our club.
Other than family, Scott is most proud of serving our country for 31 years, he says, “it truly was his honor.” Scott’s favorite meal is a Santa Maria Style Barbeque which is tri-tips cooked over a wood fire. His hobbies are travelling, serving as Military Chairman of CFD and he and Megan are getting into cooking.
Please help me honor our Rotarian of the Week, Scott Fox!
