Rotary Club of Cheyenne Contributes $3000 to Support Local Community

Your Rotary club has contributed $3,000 from our April

“lunch money” to care for the needs in our community.

The Rotary Club of Cheyenne Board voted unanimously

to donate $1,000 to Friday Food Bags Foundation,

$500 to COMEA Shelter, $500 to Safehouse Services,

and $1,000 to help fund a book drive project led by our

Cheyenne Community Rotaract Club to get books into the

hands of youth that do not otherwise have access to books at home.

We are also reviewing other unmet needs in our community

and considering ways that Rotary might help, so look for more

opportunities for Rotary service.

Rotarians Making A Difference

Rotarian David Willms and his daughter, Kiersti,

have been serenading the community with songs on Facebook.

COVIS-19 Crisis Relief

This novel coronavirus has not only caused a crisis for our

public health systems, but for many it’s a true financial crisis.

Everyone is affected in some way, made uncomfortable either

by a volatile investment market impacting retirement savings,

by isolation, by unmet child care needs or challenging work

arrangements, and so much more.  For some Rotarians, however,

the financial impacts are severe.

For members who believe that their only financial choice would

be to resign from Rotary because of this COVID-19 crisis,

the Rotary Club of Cheyenne leadership has approved a possible

alternative that may allow you to continue your Rotary membership.

Any Rotarian in good standing with this club who is experiencing

severe financial impacts from the COVID-19 crisis may make a

request directly to the Robin Sims, President, to ask for a temporary

suspension of his/her dues for the three months starting April 1.

During this three month period, a Rotarian granted relief pays no

Rotary Club dues, but remains a full member of the Rotary Club of Cheyenne

and is encouraged to participate in Rotary in any way possible.

If a Rotarian who has been granted crisis relief from dues is able to

attend a lunch during the relief period, the member pays the guest rate.

The Club Board has approved that up to ten (10) Rotarians may be

granted this relief, with names only known to those who would be

necessary for processing.

If you are a member experiencing a financial crisis and wish to apply

for COVID-19 Crisis Dues Relief, please contact

President Robin Sims (robin_sims@charter.net).

Club Finance Processes

We are in the process of switching banks for our accounts resulting

in some changes on how payments are made.

If you currently pay your dues by check, please send it to the dropbox

address on your bill.

We have started credit card processing through ClubRunner

The decision was made to accomplish this to not only collect dues,

but to collect credit card payments for our events such as the Peach Sales

and  Ice Melt Challenge.  Members using credit cards will need to log

into our website, cheyennerotary.org, go to the dues and billing link and

select the payment option.  If you need assistance in logging into the

website, please contact Mary Schwem, maschwem@gmail.com

Do You Have and Important Update that Rotarians Need to Hear?

Rotarians are leaders throughout our greater community, and

we want to hear from you!  If you have an update on a project or

program or need in our community, or have information that Rotarians

need to know, please contact President Robin Sims so we can put you

on the agenda for an upcoming meeting.

Rotary Club of Cheyenne to Hold Virtual Meetings through  April

We had our first Virtual Meeting ZOOM this past week!

68 Rotarians joined us to hear from Dr. Bud Davis, Jim Walter and Brittany Ashby on

how the COVID-19 virus  is effecting our medical, tourism and social service industries

in our community.

Rotary Club of Cheyenne will be holding virtual meetings through April. We encourage

all Rotarians and guests to join us!  We plan on resuming our physical gatherings and

activities as soon as we responsibly can and will be sending out regular updates about

future Wednesdays which will include links and call-in information to join the meetings.

Together we are “Socially Distanced, but Rotary Connected!”

Hope to see you Wednesday for an April Fools Day surprise guest speaker!

Inspired in part by Indiana Jones, space archaeologist Sarah Parcak uses futuristic airborne technology to unearth the treasures of the past.

How do we escape our tangled relationship with a throwaway culture? Rotarians are pointing the way.

Since 2015, more than 4 million people have fled an economically devastated Venezuela. Tracking the stories of three who left puts faces on that staggering statistic.

A plainsman with a PhD, Bob Quinn uses his 4,000-acre Montana spread as a laboratory to revive an ancient grain, rethink agricultural practices, and reinvigorate rural communities

After the genocide of 1994, Rotarians led a successful campaign to build Rwanda’s first public library.
