This Week's Program
Cheyenne Post 6 Baseball
The meeting will be held at Little America at 12 noon.

Brad Barker:

In August 2024, Brad Barker III was named the head coach of Cheyenne Post 6 Baseball, a role that honors both his history with the program and his passion for developing young athletes. His commitment to fostering talent and leadership on and off the field reflects his deep connection to the game and the community.

Brad played for Cheyenne Post 6 Baseball from 1998 to 2001, earning a place in the Post 6 Hall of Fame in 2017. After graduating from Central High School, he pursued his baseball career at the collegiate level. In 2004, during his final year of college, Brad began his coaching journey, working with players across all levels, from 13U to collegiate teams.

Brad is committed to continuing Post 6's storied success in Cheyenne while advancing the program in new ways. He aims to build on the program's strong foundation by incorporating modern training techniques, enhancing player development resources, and fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field. Brad also prioritizes creating opportunities for players to succeed at higher levels of competition and ensuring they develop the skills and character needed for lifelong success. Additionally, Brad and his players are dedicated to giving back to the community as a way to express their gratitude for the unwavering support that has been instrumental in the program's success.

Outside of baseball, Brad manages the Hathaway Scholarship Program, supporting Wyoming students' educational goals. His dedication to mentoring youth extends beyond athletics, making a lasting impact in both academics and sports.

Phil Maggard:

2009-present—Cheyenne Post 6 Baseball Board (17 years, VP 2 years, President 15 years)

Spring 2020 (COVID) spent over 100 hours communicating with the Governor, State Health Director and County Health Director to avoid cancelation of the Legion baseball season—after Legion National canceled sponsorship nationally for the 2020 season.  We worked out social distancing and sterilization of surfaces and indeed played a full slate of games and did have a state tournament.  Ron Laird, Commissioner of the Wyoming High School Activities Association, reached out and used our model to execute a successful high-school football season along with other Fall sports at the high school level.  We were told we were the first baseball game played in the nation that late Spring.  We did NOT want our seniors to miss this critical 2020 season.
