Cheyenne's New Senior Center

Erin LeBlanc, Exective Director of the Laramie County Senior Activity Center will discuss the new center and what they have to offer.  

Board member Julie Malm and other board members will also share in the conversation.

Keren Meister-Emerich was the winner to the bouquet donated by David Bartlett at our meeting last week.

Several Rotarians attended the Social at Uncle Charlie's last week.

Last fall, the executive director of Jason’s Friends, Christine Robinson gave our Club a talk on what Jason’s Friends does for Wyoming children who have been diagnosed with cancer. Many Rotarians felt this was a very worthwhile nonprofit and were pleased that such an organization existed.

Jason’s Friends will be having their first Cheyenne area bowling fundraiser on March 7^th at Derby Lanes.  The board of our Rotary Club voted to donate $3,000 towards the fundraising for Jason’s Friends.

Samantha Reeves has applied to Rotary International with our Club as sponsor for a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship.  She is planning to attend Hertie School's Master of International Affairs program in Berlin, Germany to concentrate in international security.

Samantha is a Wyoming resident but grew up around the country as a military child. She contacted President Brittany regarding a scholarship and Brittany had to do some digging to find someone in our District who was aware of the scholarship.

Samantha is currently a senior at Princeton University, studying in the School of Public and International Affairs, focusing on national and international security and conflict. She also Spent time studying abroad in Vienna, Austria and Taipei, Taiwan. Samantha interned with Senator Lummis in D.C. and the Australian Consulate General's Office in NY, which inspired her to pursue a career in public service. She wants to continue studying peacebuilding and conflict prevention to develop the academic foundations needed to be an effective policy maker.

The Global Grant will be for $30,000 which will come from our District and RI with some funding by our club.
