Our two newest members pictured with sponsor Bailey Nowak, are Greg Ashley and Austin Rodemaker with PP Brent Lathrop. Born and raised in Dillsburg, PA, Austin Rodemaker first attended the Virginia Military Institute on a partial lacrosse and academic scholarship. After 1 year, he transferred to the US Air Force Academy where he graduated in 2016 with a bachelors in political science. He was commissioned into the Air Force where he went on to nuclear missile operations training at Vandenberg AFB, CA. He was then transferred to the FE Warren AFB in Cheyenne where he spent a little over 4 years as a nuclear operations officer and completed his active-duty service as an instructor. In 2019, he received his masters in international relations from Troy University. He then separated from active duty where he and his wife, Sarah, elected to stay in Cheyenne and he became the executive director of the Unaccompanied Students Initiative (USI), a local nonprofit that works with local homeless teenagers and helps them finish school. During his free time, Austin founded and coaches the Cheyenne Youth Lacrosse Club, the only lacrosse program in Cheyenne. Austin and his wife have really adapted to life and Wyoming and look forward to becoming more involved in the community. Greg Ashley is 27 years old and a Cheyenne Central graduate. He was born and raised in Akron, Colorado. A town of about 2,000 people. Greg is the second of four children in his family and a first-generation college graduate. After the financial crisis in 2008 his family moved to Greeley, CO where he attended Dayspring Christian for 2 years before moving to Cheyenne to finish high school. Upon graduating, Greg went to school at Utah State University Eastern, a 2 year Junior College in Price, Utah, where he played baseball. While there he earned his Associates degree in General Studies before moving back to Laramie to complete his undergrad. Over the course of his three years at UW he worked at the Early Care Education Center as a pre-school teaching assistant and also was a marketing intern for the athletic department. While attending Wyoming Greg earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Consulting. After graduating in 2018 he began his career in College Athletics as the Director of Fan Experience for Wyoming Athletics. Greg spent three years with the Athletic department before resigning in July of 2021 and moving back to Cheyenne where he began working with New York Life as a Financial Professional. Greg loves building relationships with people and this profession seemed like a natural. Since moving back to Cheyenne he has begun teaching a class of 4th , 5th , and 6th graders on Sundays at Cheyenne Hills Church. In addition, he is coaching a 14 and under baseball team over the summer. Greg's goal in joining The Rotary Club is to be able to begin making a lasting impact in the community and ultimately be a part of making Cheyenne an even better city than it already is. |
