Bob Shriner died last week at the age of 85. Until he experienced failing health, he was an active member of Rotary. He was a master salesman and community supporter. He and his wife, Ernie, arrived in Cheyenne in 1956, as young newlyweds, when Bob began his career as a salesman at Pioneer Printing and Stationary. He quickly proved his business acumen, and through hard work, became co-owner of the business. As a hands-on leader at Pioneer Printing, Bob’s dedication to quality and service made the company the premier printing service in Cheyenne.
He and Ernie launched Action Ads, which they successfully ran for 40 years. He continued his role as salesman with Action Ads long after he retired from Pioneer Printing.
In addition to being a Rotarian, he was a member of the Cheyenne Lions Club, and served on the Laramie County Community College Board of Trustees, giving back to the community he loved.
Known for his ever-present smile and a joke that could lighten any room, Bob was a man of warmth and integrity. He was a supportive husband (he and Ernie were married 66 years), and father, and a trusted friend who made everyone around him feel valued. He was a good judge of character because he sponsored Lucy Osborne’s membership into Rotary.
Bob Shriner’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, both personally and professionally. We will remember him as a man of joy, kindness, and unwavering generosity. Rest in peace, Bob.
