Cheyenne Chamber Singers

Sean Ambrose has been with the Cheyenne Chamber Singers as a singer since 1993, and as Conductor since 2011, following founder Dr. Jane Iverson. In 2021 he retired after 29 years as the Music Coordinator  for Laramie County School District #1, providing curriculum and activity guidance to 60 teachers serving 12,000 students K-12 in Cheyenne’s 34 public schools in .  Sean is an active conductor and clinician for both instrumental and vocal ensembles, as well as a frequent presence on the Cheyenne Little Theatre stage or ‘in the pit’.In 2006, Sean became the director of the Cheyenne Civic Concert Band, a 90 member community ensemble which produces a summer concert series in Cheyenne.  He was the founder and director of the Cheyenne Trombone Ensemble, and started the tradition of Tuba Christmas taking place in Cheyenne. 

A third-generation native of Wyoming, Sean received his Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Wyoming, and has done advanced studies in Educational Administration and Music at UW, Kansas State and Colorado State Universities.  In May 2007, the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences recognized Sean as an Outstanding Alumnus.

The Cheyenne Chamber Singers are an auditioned group of 32 professional singers and gifted amateurs managed by a part-time staff. Former CCS conductor and artistic director Dr. Jane M. Iverson founded the Cheyenne Chamber Singers (CCS) in 1991 and the group has now completed its 33rd season.

The Singers often collaborate with other groups and is a frequent guest artist in Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra concerts with whom they have performed such works as Handel’s Messiah, the Debussy Nocturnes, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music and Fantasia on Christmas Carols, portions of the Bach Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and the Mozart, Verdi and Brahms Requiems.
