Hello my Rotary family-
Can I get a Yee-haw or a Woo Hoo?  We have hit significant goals in our club.  First, as of today, we have 201 members.  Thank you for inviting people to join our amazing Rotary family.  Keep inviting family, friends and colleagues to our lunch programs and spreading the word about all the great things our club is doing in our community and the world.  The #1 reason why people join a service group is to give back to their community through service projects and the #1 reason why people stay in a service club is due to the friendships.  What is your why?

Secondly, a huge thank you to our Business Sponsorship Program Committee members who have raised $43,000 this year.  This is a 5-year total of $169,750.  Some of the funds raised this year were put toward the Adaptive Bike Project for kids, the VA Trolley Project for Veterans, Habitat for Humanity for families, Community Action of Laramie County for the homeless, Raising Readers in WY for children, our Rotary Park and our Cheyenne Rotary Foundation.  I would like to personally thank the following club members who have helped with this committee: Tom Bass, Traci Lacock, Brittany Wilson, Mike Williams, Carmalee Rose and Scott Fox who sends invoices and helps keeps everything organized.  And of course, thank you to all those businesses and individuals who said yes when they were contacted by these committee members.  Please check out who those business sponsors are by going to cheyennerotary.org and seeing the businesses logos rotate on the right of our main page.  We also run PowerPoint slides to advertise these businesses at our weekly luncheons and the sponsors are listed in our printed membership directory as well.

Please check out all the volunteer opportunities in our bulletin and wear your Rotary People of Action/Rotarian at Work shirts and try to volunteer for one event or project this year.  Please contact me if you have not received your shirt yet.  Please take photos and share on social media so we can show that Rotary is everywhere in this community.

Our club is joining District 5440 by helping to collect no longer used mobility devices to be gathered at the District Conference in May. Donations will be shipped by Crutches4Africa to developing countries. Needed Items: crutches, ankle boots, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, leg braces, knee braces, prosthetic legs, air casts, baby jogging strollers, bicycle trailers, ski poles.  Please contact me to donate items by May 15th.

If you are interested in learning more about Rotary, please attend Rotary 101 on April 18th. The Rotary Learning Institute will be held May 31/June 1.  The RLI program is offered to refine a Rotarian’s leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary.  Participants return to their clubs with enthusiasm, new contacts, fresh ideas, an increased understanding of their potential as Rotarians, and valuable skills impacting their potential leadership in the club. Contact me or President-Elect Beth VanDeWege to learn more.

The foundation upon which Rotary is built is friendship, on no less firm foundation could it have stood. ~Paul P Harris
