Athletic Director Mark Puev, Flight Crew Booster Club President Wally Erickson, and coaches and players from each of the seven LCCC sports will be in attendance at the October 2nd Rotary Meeting to speak about the great things happening with LCCC Golden Eagle Athletics.  It is a very exciting time for LCCC Athletics, with the completion of the newly renovated BLUE FCU Recreation and Athletics Complex, as well as some great support LCCC Athletics is receiving from the college as well as the Flight Crew Booster club.  We will hear from student-athletes about what their experiences have been at LCCC and Mark and Wally will talk on how Golden Eagle Athletics is meeting the expectations of the LCCC Athletics Strategic Plan (2020-2025) and what the future holds for the Golden Eagles.

Peace Pole Installed at Rotary Park
The Peace Pole, through the generosity of Rotarian Larry Atwell, was installed September 25th at Rotary Park next to the Greenway on Dell Range. There are eight languages on the pole saying May Peace Prevail on Earth. Including English they are: Spanish, French, Lakota, Portuguese, German, Japanese and Hindi and Veterans for Peace. The first four languages were chosen to represent the peoples/countries that developed what is now Wyoming and the last four are to pick up the many other language speakers that come to Cheyenne and Wyoming as tourists and business people throughout the year such as during Cheyenne Frontier Days. This is our first Rotary improvement to the park and it represents what Rotary is all about. Thank you to Larry for bringing it to our attention and providing support for the purchase and installation.

Tribute to Bob Shriner
Bob Shriner died last week at the age of 85. Until he experienced failing health, he was an active member of Rotary. He was a master salesman and community supporter. He and his wife, Ernie, arrived in Cheyenne in 1956, as young newlyweds, when Bob began his career as a salesman at Pioneer Printing and Stationary. He quickly proved his business acumen, and through hard work, became co-owner of the business. As a hands-on leader at Pioneer Printing, Bob’s dedication to quality and service made the company the premier printing service in Cheyenne.

He and Ernie launched Action Ads, which they successfully ran for 40 years. He continued his role as salesman with Action Ads long after he retired from Pioneer Printing.

In addition to being a Rotarian, he was a member of the Cheyenne Lions Club, and served on the Laramie County Community College Board of Trustees, giving back to the community he loved.

Known for his ever-present smile and a joke that could lighten any room, Bob was a man of warmth and integrity. He was a supportive husband (he and Ernie were married 66 years), and father, and a trusted friend who made everyone around him feel valued. He was a good judge of character because he sponsored Lucy Osborne’s membership into Rotary.

Bob Shriner’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, both personally and professionally. We will remember him as a man of joy, kindness, and unwavering generosity. Rest in peace, Bob.
